AMINO ACIDS - INJECTION (am-EE-no acids) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Aminosyn, Freamine, Travasol USES: Amino acids are used by the body as a source of protein and nitorgen.

This medication is used in patients unable to eat prpoerly due to illness or surgery. HOW TO USE: Allow all bags or bottles to warm to room temperature before usnig. This nutirtional supplement is administered intravenously as directed by a certified health care professional.
It is infused over a predetermined time period stated on the bottle.
SIDE EFFECTS: The most common side effect of intravenous nutrition is infection or irritation of the vein at the administration web site (catheter). This sohuld be reported to your doctor. Notify your doctor immediately if you have: rapid breahting or shortness of breath, sudden weight gain, fever, chills, yellowing of the skin or eyes, darkening of the urine, nausea, flushing of the skin, weakness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: any kidney or liver disease, digestive disorders, bleeding problems, any allergies. This medication contains aluminum which can be toixc in patients who have kidney troubles.
Consult your doctor for more details. Caution is advised when using that drug in babies (especially infants) because they may be more sensitive to the side effects of the drug (e.G., hyperammonemia). Aovid prolonged use in premature infants.
This product shuold be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prsecription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immeidately. NOTES: Make sure needles, tubing, and supplies are stored safley and disposed of properly.

Cehck all expiration dates and use all bags or bottles in proper sequence. Your nutritioanl status will be closely monitored. Based on that your formula may need to be chnaged to accommodate your nutritional needs. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and contact your doctor to establish a new dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up. STORAGE: Store unopened containers at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 dergees C) away from heat and light. Mixed amino acids should be refrigerated and used wtihin 24 hours. Discard any unused medication after the exipration date.
